In
response to the needs of children growing
in a multilingual
society, these books provide access to two languages at a time,
paired
in combination with English. The text is deliberately simple, even
literal, to facilitate the learning of
one language through the
other. Every language, however, is unique in terms of syntax and
usage of words. So the challenge is to translate literally without
compromising on the integrity of each language, to make two
languages work in
tandem and yet stand alone.
