Thank you for your interest in Tulika. We are always on the lookout for an interesting manuscript and would be happy to go through yours. 

However . . .
- It would be a good idea if you were to first look at our books — either in a bookstore or on our site — to get familiar with our focus and the kind of books we publish. If you haven't already done so, you could click on about tulika and bookshelf right away and get started.

Having done that . . . 
- You would have realised that we publish only for children, from 0 to 16 years of age, from beginner picture books for very little ones all the way up to fiction and non-fiction for young adults. We also do resource books for parents and teachers. We assume your manuscript fits somewhere in this range.
- You may send in the entire ms or a part of it, as you please. If it is long, a brief synopsis sent along with it is useful, so is a one-page bio-data / c.v. / resumé so we know a little about who is writing to us.
- The ms should be typewritten, double-spaced.

- It should be sent by regular post (snail mail — we don't accept manuscripts on email or fax) to:

- If you would like us to return your ms in case we are unable to use it, please enclose a self-addressed envelope, suitably stamped. For those overseas, we will not be able to return your work, so please send only a copy.

The fine print . . .
Offering to read your manuscript is not a commitment to publish. Ours is an independent publishing house doing limited titles in a year, with the accent on quality. We can't always publish all that we'd like to. So please don't be too disappointed if our response is a 'no'. We value all submissions, appreciate the effort involved in writing and give every manuscript our full consideration before coming to a decision. It would take our editorial team a while to go through your submission and it could be up to three months before you hear from us — but be assured that you will hear.

For illustrators . . .
While we tend to work a lot with local artists, only because it is easier to interact, we are open to any interesting art-styles from anywhere. We would naturally need to see samples, but please don't send anything before you write in to us. We will then tell you if we'd like you to email us your work, or send photocopies, or meet in person if you are in, or visiting, Chennai.
