Delightful illustrations

The illustrations were delightful in transporting us all to Dalhousie street where the contexts of working ma and thoughts of Totai were familiar to all the children however diverse their own home experiences. Bookworm Trust

Perfect read-aloud material

When I opened the book, the first thing I noticed was the colour palette. These were strong Indian hues of bright blue and garish orange; deep emerald and snazzy purple. Sayan Mukherjee clearly understands that we Indians like our colours to be eye-catching. Also, he captures the atmosphere of Kolkata’s ever-buzzing streets and its typical eccentric characters with unerring humour... The author, Swati Sengupta, understands that, for a picture book for a five-year-old, you need a good read-aloud style. Goodbooks.in
