Kay S. gave up her career as a schoolteacher to follow her second love, writing. Her first remains books and reading. There’s nothing she likes better than to gorge on chips and read thrillers on rainy afternoons or winter evenings. Having travelled India extensively, she has settled in Noida. A postgraduate in English literature from Delhi University, she has been writing for the last ten years. She has written extensively for older children and adults. The Forbidden Forest was her first foray into writing for younger children, which she asserts is far more difficult.
Arun has been told never to go to the forest near his house. But of course he MUST! So he slips away one day. All is well until he breaks a “rule”… and has to face the fierce King Yaksha, spirit guardian of the forest. 2019: Best of Indian Children's Writing: Contemporary Award
A gang of robbers is cutting and stealing sandalwood trees from the forest near Arun's house. Something must be done... and quickly!
